Seeing Our Country

On our way back from Florida we stopped in at Gulfport and Biloxi MS. This has always been our favorite part of the trip between Texas and Georgia. In particular was the White Cap Cafe, a seafood restaurant that used to be out by the fishing docks. We would always stop in here for lunch, great food and a beautiful view. Alas, all gone thanks to Katrina. Not even a hint of a building is left where it used to set just to the left of the frame work buildings. The story was repeated often up and down the US 90 coastline between Pass Christian to Biloxi. We uderstand that it was as bad in Ocean Springs and Bay of St Louis as well even though e did not check those places out. Most of the campgrounds are either FEMA refuges or temp home sites for workers, Insurance companies, or the like. Pretty tough to look at. We hardly knew where we were at because of the missing familiar landmarks.
