We stayed at te Chewonki RV park located just off Hwy 1. This was a beautiful park with a lot of activities as a destination park including a clay tennis court, 2 hole golf field, canoe and kayak access point, saltwater pool, and full hook-ups. The only down thing was a funky dog rule where they didn't want you to leave your dog unattended in the RV. I guess they would rather you leave the pet unattended in a car or not go anywhere. Better to just advertise not to bring your pets so we don't travel all the way here to be hit with something like this at the end of a days drive.
None the less, the people were friendly and this is a nice park, just bear in mind the dog rule. Here are a few shots of ours and Ted and Jan's rigs with the views.
The next day saw us taking a day trip to Freeport and paying a major shopping visit to LL Bean retail outlet store. What an eye opener, a 24 hour shop till you drop sportsman's Christmas wish store. I don't know that you get any special prices, but they have every thing. This place takes up a city block. Needless to say we went crazy in here.
That night we followed the day up with an old fashioned weiner and burger roast. A perfect end to the day. Jan and mom enjoy the warmth of the campfire while Ted tells some tall tales.
The next day was a kayak day for Christa and I. We took a paddle aroundChewonki Point, very breezy, but otherwise beautiful.
All in all a pleasant stay and would stay here again if we were in the area. Our next stop takes us to Brookline, NH, for a visit with Ted's cousins and as a waypoint for follow on journey to Niagra, NY.
