Our second big adventure was to visit the Heritage Center near Sydney, Nova Scotia. This was a nice little project to visit as it depicts the way early imigrees from europe lived in Nova Scotia.
Local people demonstrate and give explanation on how early Capers worked and played to survive a sometimes harsh enviroment.
Here we learned a little about the early stone houses built in the area. Ted comes back from a visit to the barn.
There were also buildings from an early stone house through differnet constructs as materials and more people arrived.
Jan checking out an early kitchen.
We were also able to see demonstrations on how to make thread and from that to weave early garments. We also saw how the whole village would come together to perform long and tedious tasks using song to bind them as a community.

Mom, Jan and Christa come out from checking out a church transported down the river from another location. The story of its relocation to the Heritage Center has become something of local lore.
A wonderful experience and much better than the usual tourist traps. The people who worked here were friendly and very knowledgeable about the historical aspects of the peoples they portrayed. A must see in a beautiful setting.
