Cavendish, PEI

On pulling into the KOA in Cavendish, our new neighbors in a cabin next to us immediately caught our eye with the seafood spread they had laid out and preparing t cook. Man, a table full of lobster. They also had some scallops and fresh veggies, but wow, the lobster. They told us of the market they got it from, and - you guessed it - we put it on the must visit list. But, as the day took longer than we expected all that would be for another day. We were here from the 4th to the 7th of Sep.

The next day we headed out even though it was a rainy dreary day. Still - the ride was interesting and the countryside scenic despite the light rain and coolish weather.

We made our way to the nearby town of Summerside where the fish market with good lobster deals were to be had. After doing a little price comparing we found C&E market where they indeed had the best deal. So after buying a goodly number of the fine little lobsters (and some of the acclaimed PEI scallops) we continued on our way to a great seafood restaurant, Gentleman Jim's (recommended bythe market proprieter). The meal was scrumptous.

We also stopped off at one of the many local farmer's markets for some fresh veggies to go with our fresh seafood.

After getting stuffed on various fruites de mer, we headed out for our next stop of the day - the North Cape. Rumor has it that one can see a terrific display of seapower as the Northumberland Strait and the Gulf of St Lawrence crash together at this juncture to the north west of the island. Unfortunately, we got there at a low tide and the effect wasn't that great, though you could see where it might get spectacular.

The last day saw us putzing around looking at some of the sites dedicated to the author of Anne of Green Gables Lucy M. Montgomery, who lived here. I took some photos, but not my thing (Sorry). The rest of the day was shopping and eating.
The next day found us on the road again heading back ino New Brunswick. This time, instead of using the ferry we used a toll bridge. This one long bridge, reportedly 9 miles long crossing the Northumberland Strait. Here also, we would break up the caravan for short spell. Ted and Jan wanted to return to Nova Scotia andHalifax. We wanted to check out Shediac, NB, Shediac being the Lobster capitol of the world.
