Seeing Our Country

7/20/05. For lunch we stopped at Mary's McKinley View Lodge. This is a unique stop and has quite a story. The woman who founded the lodge was a bit of a pioneer and is quite famous locally. An author, she wrote the book "No place for a Woman," which was a kind of dig at one of her good male friends that suggested the same thing when she mentioned building a cabin up near McKinley. Anyway, the lodge has very good views of Mt McKinley as well as serving up some good sandwiches, soups and other entrees. There is also a gift shop with books, paintings, carvings, and other knick-knacks.
